Well that is odd.  I guess I haven't updated the journal since, well, 2013.

2013 came and went and although not our best year it was a rather interesting year.  It seems that it was the last year that we will be doing P.O.D. books and we'll be going back to doing offset books.  The way comic books were meant to be.  To me, the big rush before conventions in making sure we had enough stock was always a hassle.  With the offset books I just open up a new box and pull out what I need for the convention.  With offset, I have to wonder if there are any copies somewhere else that I'm not aware of or does my partner have the extra copies that I'm not aware of etc.  Then when you factor in the cost, oh the cost!  If I'm spending anywhere over a dollar to produce one copy then I'm in trouble.  I'm cutting my profits razor thin and I'm only making back a few cents on a book.  Factor in convention cost, ie table, gas, parking, food and a comic book here and there, it doesn't add up.

We've returned back to offset and I've gotta say, I don't know why we strayed away.  Our book last year, Instant Press Comics 2013, came out beautiful.  At .60 cents per copy, I'm making a nice profit on each copy AND I'm able to put that money towards promotions for Instant Press.  I've got a nice stash of books reading for the entire convention season so there's no worrying about having the right amount or if I should pay a rush fee and whether or not the books will be printed/ cut properly.

Now, you're probably saying that it cost too much to pay for offset.  This is true.  You will be paying for that luxury but again, it's well worth it.  If you're proud of your work I would recommend that you show it.  We had the pleasure of meeting Sam and Jacob of Krakenprint and they've been more than helpful with our projects.  They are very professional and always ready to answer any questions you may have.  They know alot about the printing industry and they know the comic book market.  You couldn't ask for anything more when it comes down to getting what you need for your product.

Instant Press Comics will be doing more in 2014 but later on in the year.  Even though we've stopped doing several shows in the second half we may be signing up for more out of town shows and doing more in store signings.  We've got StarBomb #5, Skunk and Sparrow #1, Time of the Wolfman and Instant Press 2014.  Watch out cause these books are coming up fast.

Hello, I got your card at ACEN 2012, cool work. I am a cs student and am tinkering with making android apps to pad the ole resume.

Would you like to collaborate on a application to show your work? It could be any number of things really... i am new at this but i have a few simple ones made. Let me know if you would like to ok.

Thanks
